Tuesday Nights

VENTURERS are the next age level up from Scouts.

We work towards gaining our Venturer Award & Duke of Edinburgh Awards...these should lead us to receiving the top scouting award - Queen's Scout Award.

Venturers need to complete activities in 3 major categories -

Service - this is service to the community; service to our group (you will see us helping out leaders at other sections); service to Scouting (helping out at Zone or National camps/activities)

Expedition - we will be planing, preparing & going on several different expeditions & activities. These may be include trips of 2-4 days duration consisting of rowing, biking, hiking or similar.

Skills - along the way we will be using our own personal strengths & skills as well as learning new skills. These may include sporting skills, crafts, life skills, driving license, & many many more!!

Summer terms

6.00pm - 8.30pm

(During school terms 1&4)

VENTURER SECTION OBJECTIVES:-

To help young people to:

  • participate in an adventurous training programme that will equip them for the safe enjoyment of the outdoors;
  • build self esteem and confidence;
  • have fun and enjoyment;
  • develop leadership and inter-personal skills;
  • develop new interests and constructive leisure activities;
  • test their values and opinions;
  • make informed choices;
  • encourage voluntary participation and empowerment;
  • take responsibilty for their own actions and contribute to the local and national community;
  • aquire life skills and learn about current issues;
  • explore spiritual development
